Digital Television Transition Date Change
The recently passed DTV Delay Act extends the deadline for full-power broadcast TV stations to complete the digital television transition from February 17, 2009 to June 12, 2009.
Even though the DTV transition deadline has been pushed back, your local broadcast stations may complete the transition prior to June 12, 2009. Due to unique technical issues, the DTV Delay Act does not require stations to continue broadcasting in analog after February 17, 2009. Individual stations may choose to complete their transition and stop broadcasting in analog before June 12, 2009.
The transition to digital – the most significant TV advancement since color – will transform the viewing experience.
CEDIA is a member of the Digital Television Transition Coalition. The Digital Television Coalition’s mission is to inform consumers of the June 12, 2009 switch from analog to digital television broadcasting. The coalition is comprised of business, trade and industry groups as well as grass roots and membership organizations that share an interest in a smooth transition. The core mission of the Digital Television Transition Coalition is to ensure no consumer is left without broadcast television due to a lack of information about the transition.
