CEDIA Certification: Maintenance, Renewal, and Re-Certification
Certificants have three options for keeping their credential up-to-date: CEU renewal, online renewal exam, or re-certification exam.
ESC-T, ESC-N, and ESC-D certifications are valid for three years and may be renewed by earning 30 continuing education units (CEUs). Earn CEUs by taking part in online or in-person CEDIA training, other relevant industry training. Non-CEDIA classes can be submitted for approval from within a person's cedia.net account. Here is a list of non-CEDIA training that is approved for CEUs. CEUs values are awarded according to the following scale.
Persons holding an ESC-T certification have the option to take a 50-question “refresher” exam instead of earning CEUs. (Renewal exams for ESC-D and ESC-N are in development.) This exam is available from 6 months before until 6 months after the original certification’s expiration date. Learn more.
If you have previously earned a CEDIA Certification, and are more than six months past your expiration date, you are eligible to retake the current version of that certification exam using your own computer at a time that is convenient for you. These exams are also available at a discounted retest fee of $125. Learn more.
