Governance & Authority

All CEDIA Certifications are overseen by the CEDIA Certification Commission which is a permanent, independent governing body established by the CEDIA Bylaws. The Certification Commission develops, maintains, and provides oversight for the certification programs in adherence with best practices and recognized accreditation standards for certification programs. The certification programs are developed to identify qualified home technology professionals. As such, the certification examination for each credential is based on a job task analysis study designed to identify the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities essential to practice.

The Certification Commission ensures that all application and eligibility requirements, examination development and administration, renewal/recertification requirements, and all certification program policies and procedures are directly related to, and support, the identified purpose and scope of each certification program.

View the 2021 Certification Commission on the Certification Volunteer Page.

Impartiality Statement

The CEDIA Certification Commission is solely responsible for the essential decisions related to the development, administration and ongoing maintenance of all CEDIA Certification programs. Impartiality is central to carrying out all of the Commission’s activities. CEDIA and the Certification Commission establish and implement policies to manage conflicts of interest and ensure the objectivity of certification activities.

Impartiality Regarding Training

The Certification Commission’s role in developing and administering the CEDIA certification examinations is to determine if candidates for certification meet the established qualifications and standards. The Certification Commission does not require, provide, approve, accredit, recommend, or endorse any specific training courses, study guides, review programs, or other examination preparation products.
