The purpose of this course is to educate participants about the types of
cable and connectors, and their industry standards, used in low-voltage
installations. Topics covered in this course include cable type, construction,
impedance, attenuation, and proper termination.
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify the physical construction of cables and wires through the use of
basic industry terminology
- Describe the characteristics of cable performance metrics including:
interference, bandwidth, throughput, and attenuation
- Compare and Contrast the construction, performance, and connector types
for the various cables; Coaxial, General Purpose, twisted pair, fiber optic,
and specialty cable which includes USB, DVI, HDMI, SDI, and Display
Port
