Welcome

Opening presentation from CEDIA
CEDIA EMEA's Managing Director, Matt Nimmons, will welcome attendees to the event with a short update on what's new within the world of CEDIA.

Session 1

One AV: The Future of Communication and Smart Infrastructure

Session 1

One AV: The Future of Communication and Smart Infrastructure

Presented by Joe Fletcher

Changes in OFCOM regulations and new technologies mean that integrators can offer more services than ever. This talk will discuss recent changes in regulations and how they impact the CI industry, what services and technologies they can now offer to the end user, and how we can effectively design infrastructure to accommodate current and future technologies. We will also discuss how the 5G rollout will impact the industry as a whole and what technologies are available for improving mobile reception indoors. By the end of this session, attendees will understand the services that they can legally offer and the provisions that need to be made to ensure a building is ‘future-proofed’ for coverage issues.

Session 2

L-Acoustics: The Theory and Application for Multichannel Audio Designs

Session 2

L-Acoustics: The Theory and Application for Multichannel Audio Designs
Presented by Guillaume Le Nost, Managing Director, and Jeff Woodford, Application Engineer.

Many audio manufacturers now offer a range of point-sources, line-sources, or column speakers for residential applications.

This session will offer a theoretical refresher on their main differences in terms of acoustic behaviour, (in free-field or in a room), and their application in the context of residential multichannel audio (through a typical use-case).

Attendees will also look at the practical guidelines to select the right speaker type for the right application. By the end of the session, delegates will understand different loudspeaker designs, the relations between speaker coverage, SPL distribution and sweet spot, and the relationships between speaker directivity and room acoustics.

Session 3

Blustream: The Evolution of Technology in Video Distribution

Session 3

Blustream: The Evolution of Technology in Video Distribution

Presented by Daniel Adams, Technical Projects Director

This course will look at the competing video distribution technologies that are on the market today, what has become available recently, and what will be available in the future.

Attendees will spend time looking at the different technologies and where, when, and why they might be the best solution for a project. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with a much better idea of what to specify for each opportunity. Candidates will understand that this is not a battle and competing video distribution technologies all have a place.

Session 4

AWE: Home Cinema Projector Technologies

Session 4

AWE: Home Cinema Projector Technologies
Presented by James Drummie

Home cinema remains an integral part of business for many integrators. However, it’s a fast-moving space that’s increasingly subject to marketing hype and potentially misleading product claims. This is especially true with projectors.

During this session, we’ll take a close look at 1080, 4K, and 8K projectors and explain the differences between native 4K and 4K pixel shift. We’ll also examine the relative merits of lamp and laser projection technology and help you understand why and when you’d specify an LCoS, a DLP, or a 3LCD projector. This myth-busting session will go beyond the claims to look at the facts and give you all the information you need to know to choose the right projector for your project.

By the end of this session delegates will have a greater understanding of all the major projector technologies and the confidence to specify the correct projector for any home cinema.
