How They Did It: The Smartlab Showroom

The 3,000-square-foot, $600,000 showroom by Mexico’s Smartlab is a “home inside a store,” including a family room with a hidden TV, a bedroom with a set that folds down from the ceiling and a Seura mirror TV, a bathroom with smart glass that connects to the bedroom (and its own mirror TV), a bar with two built-in screens, a high-end listening room, and a dedicated cinema with a JBL Synthesis Theater audio system and a Sony 4K projector.

As Smartlab notes, “It was important for us that our clients could use the technology here as they would in their homes — after they have this experience, they’re excited about the systems.”

The big highlight, though, is that dedicated cinema: “Our 12.4 JBL Synthesis Theater is a jaw dropper — people have a very hard time leaving after the demo is over.” This showroom took Finalist honors in the 2018 CEDIA Americas Awards.
