Your Voice for Your Industry

Darren Reaman | Apr 22, 2022

For over 20 years, CEDIA’s government affairs efforts have been designed to support and advocate for its members on issues related to the residential technology systems industry. Its mission is to serve its members by giving them a voice on numerous issues impacting the industry.  Often the core issues are related to electrical licensing and low-voltage licensing, but as the industry has grown and numerous technologies have been adopted for the home, the legislative issues have also expanded.

One thing has not changed over time and that is the important role and voice our members provide throughout the legislative process. Taking the time away from their businesses to step up and join CEDIA by adding their voice throughout the advocacy process is very important.  CEDIA members have done this by reaching out to their legislators on important issues impacting their business and industry. Taking the time to reach out to legislators during session or attending a local town hall meeting hosted by a legislator can have a big impact and strengthen our voice on key issues. Other ways to strengthen the industry’s voice is by attending a meeting on priority legislation, participating in committee hearings on a legislative bill, and encouraging other CEDIA members to get involved in this vital process.

As your association, CEDIA is your voice on advocacy issues related to your business and industry. Together we have a strong story to tell as we continue to educate policy makers on the numerous benefits technology provides homeowners and the valuable career opportunities for integrators.

As small business owners, it’s important to get involved when a CEDIA Call to Action arises in your state or municipality, but also to proactively take time and get to know your local legislators. You have the ability to educate them on your business and the interest you have in issues related to the residential technology systems industry.

Together we work daily to move this industry forward. CEDIA appreciates all the members that have taken the time to get involved on issues in the past, and we look forward to the opportunity to being at the table advocating on issues for CEDIA members and the industry in the future. Without your time, expertise, and knowledge, CEDIA’s advocacy program would not be as successful. Our members amplify our voice on priority issues, which positively impacts everyone.

Thank you for and adding your voice to this vital process and being an advocate for your industry!
