How to Network at #CEDIA13

One of the greatest benefits of attending CEDIA EXPO is the networking possibilities that exist. Finding and connecting with similar business people does two basic things for you and your business. First, it helps expand your base. Second, it provides an additional sounding board for issues that arise during the year.

Are you taking any training at CEDIA EXPO? If so, make sure you pay attention at the beginning of each session as individual attendees talk about their businesses. Listen for something familiar, then introduce yourself and your business to that individual.

Take plenty of business cards. Before you leave for the show, develop a two-sentence description of your business, e.g.:

“Right at Home Technologies, Ltd is an electronic system integration firm specializing in aging in place and small to mid-sized medical office practices. We provide complete design, installation, and ongoing network administration for the entire practice.”

As you walk the show floor, make sure you stop and talk with existing suppliers and look at new products. Your existing suppliers can assist you in bringing in complementary products to fill out a product offering. Also, get to know your local manufacturer’s rep before the show and have them introduce you to their manufacturers. Introduce yourself using your two-sentence description as above.

Remember, CEDIA EXPO is much more than just a product show! By using your time effectively you can develop strong business ties with your manufacturers and similar installation businesses that can help grow and protect your business in the future.

Look me up at the show – I would love to connect! Just DM me at @RightatHomeTech. And if you haven’t registered yet, use Code CT5 at expo.cedia.net/register. Onward and upward!
