My Social Media Kryptonite

Just because someone is on the #CEDIA13 #CEDIATweeps team doesn't mean that they know everything about social media.

Case in point: vlogging and me. Prior to a few weeks ago, I have never in my life done a vlog. (For those of you who are clueless like me, vlog = video blog.)

My first attempt was definitely NOT #SwinkySwanky. I got tripped up on words. I forgot what I was supposed to say. I even got a fuzzy caught in my mouth while running lines.

Needless to say, there were plenty of mistakes caught on video. Take a look.

See how the final video turned out (without too many flaws).

Clearly, vlogging is my social media pitfall. Besides flubbing my words, I didn't even get the setting right. I mean, did you notice that my black blazer blended in with my black chair or the fact that my desk was a mess? Of course, I didn't notice any of this until I was almost done editing the video. Ugh.

I decided to compile all of my hiccups to show that not everyone is good at social media. (CEDIA has some really helpful tips on how to work Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn in case you need help with those.)

Whether you stink at vlogging, Twitter, or something you've never even heard of, it's A-O.K. If you give whatever it is a shot and stick with it, you eventually end up figuring it out…and realize how fun it can actually be.
