How They Did It: The JBR Penthouse

Sep 20, 2018

Archimedia had worked with this particular client prior to being hired for this award-winning project (Integrated Home, Level II, 2017 CEDIA Awards, EMEA) so both parties already had a good understanding of what was required. This was a whole home automation project, and was delivered through a variety of different control platforms, depending on the aspect of the system. With the client regularly traveling, remote system monitoring and the ability to securely view CCTV were important.

Focussing on the AV side of things, Archimedia opted for a Savant SSP matrix to feed each TV with a variety of shared sources, including Kaleidescape, Satellite TV, Apple TV, and Blu-ray. With the media room featuring video tiling functionality, multiple sources could be displayed at once. Apple Airplay for phone-based and streamed content, and iTunes integrated into Savant were set up for the audio. In addition, with the young son considering himself a good DJ, Archimedia linked the DJ console to the Savant system to allow the music to be audible throughout the property.

Centralized Savant thermostats with in-room temperature sensors were installed for the HVAC system, while the lighting control came via Lutron.

CCTV cameras from Roboza were installed and can be viewed through a cloud-based dedicated app for remote access, while access control was set up by integrating Mobotix with Savant. Lastly, Archimedia opted for Domotz to allow for proactive remote monitoring.
