How They Did It: Down in Front

This media room was part of a larger project that also picked up a Finalist nod for Best Integrated Home, Level III. As the team from DSI Luxury Technology tells us, “The focus was on maximizing video performance and providing a stealth installation that would not obstruct the client’s million-dollar view. We needed a video solution for daily viewing when the room was flooded with light and also a projection solution that offered a big screen experience when the view was not paramount and that could also be enjoyed by the adjacent game room.”

The daytime solution: a Sony 85” 4K TV handles the image. For watching movies or sports on a bigger format, a 135” screen lifts out of the floor. James speakers are stashed out-of-sight, and the sub in this 7.1 system is tucked under a staircase CEDIA’s judges comments include, “Great use of space…solved a difficult problem…an impossible room, and they made it work.” The project took home Finalist honors at the 2018 CEDIA Awards (Media Room, Level II, Americas).
